Rock the Ruins at Holliday Park

A summer concert series staged in front of a collection of columns, fountains and statues in a wooded park six miles north of downtown. It is the most unusual setting for live music in Indianapolis, and it has been running since 2021.

Quick Facts

  • Where: Holliday Park, 6363 Spring Mill Road, Indianapolis
  • Music: Touring indie, Americana, jam, folk and hip-hop
  • Live music: Seasonal — summer series, all ages

What to Expect

Capacity is 2,500 on an open lawn behind the ruins — an assembly of architectural fragments and Karl Bitter’s 1890s Races of Mankind sculptures, brought here from New York and rebuilt by artist Elmer Taflinger. A 2016 restoration added benches, trees and gardens. Playing in front of it is genuinely unlike anywhere else in the state.

Bring a chair or a blanket — no seating is provided for general admission. Outside food and drink aren’t allowed, but there are vendors on site. Shows run rain or shine barring severe weather. Paid parking fills early; there is overflow with a shuttle, and a rideshare drop-off near the general admission entrance on Spring Mill Road. Proceeds support Holliday Park and its foundation. Since 2025 the series has also run at Broad Ripple Park, so check which park a given night is at before you set off.
