The Prewitt is a former movie theatre in downtown Plainfield turned upscale restaurant and lounge, and it runs live music two nights a week — Thursdays on the rooftop patio and Fridays in the main dining room, both 7 to 9 p.m. It is the most reliable weekly music in Hendricks County, and one of very few rooms in the state where the setting is genuinely part of the draw.

What to Expect
This is a dinner room with music, not a music room with food. Friday nights put a player in the main dining room from seven — often a saxophonist or a solo instrumentalist, always local — at a volume that sits under conversation rather than over it. Reserve a table if you want to actually hear it.
The Thursday rooftop sets are the better find. Same hours, open air, and the patio is first come first served, so arrive early in good weather. It is seasonal by nature.
The building was a movie house before it was a restaurant, and the conversion kept enough of the bones to make the room feel like somewhere rather than anywhere. The kitchen runs contemporary American with local sourcing; the calendar also carries themed film nights and ticketed one-offs, so check ahead.
