Carmel punches above its weight. It has one of the best-sounding concert halls in the Midwest, a supper club built around the American songbook, and free concerts on a lawn every Wednesday all summer.
The Concert Halls
The Palladium is the reason Carmel is on any serious Indiana music map — a limestone hall with acoustics good enough to draw classical, jazz, songbook and touring legends year-round. Downstairs in the same orbit, Feinstein’s at Hotel Carmichael does cabaret and jazz in a room built for it.
Free All Summer
Carmel Gazebo Concerts run every Wednesday evening from late May into early September at the gazebo on Civic Square — sixteen or so nights a season, no tickets, no gate. Bring a lawn chair and a picnic; that’s the custom, not a workaround. The Lawn at Clay Terrace adds free Thursday concerts through the summer.

Carmel PorchFest is the bigger of Indiana’s two porch festivals — close to 60 bands on around 20 porches in the Arts & Design District, drawing 10,000 to 15,000 people each September. See the festival guide.
