New Albany has the most distinctive music room in southern Indiana and a free concert series that runs later into the fall than almost anything else in the state. Downtown is compact, walkable and a DORA, and it sits ten minutes from both Jeffersonville and Louisville.
Floyd County Brewing
Floyd County Brewing Company runs three music stages, including an outdoor “enchanted biergarten” that is the reason people drive here. The whole place is medieval-themed — brewery, restaurant, patio, outdoor pizza oven — and it is the closest thing the region has to a destination venue that is also a bar you would go to anyway.
Music in the Park — Free, and Still Running
Music in the Park at Sam Peden Community Park, a joint effort of Floyd County Parks and the Community Music Alliance, runs Wednesday evenings 6–7:30 p.m. at Shelter House 1. Free, lawn chairs encouraged, yard games provided. The fall 2026 schedule:
- Wednesday, September 2 — Community Music Alliance Choir
- Wednesday, September 16 — Erin Hill, harpist and singer
- Wednesday, October 7 — Terry Lee Ridley and His Million Dollar Band, 1950s honky-tonk rock and roll
- Wednesday, October 21 — The 207s, big band
The Community Music Alliance also puts on free concerts at the Floyd County Library on the first Friday of each month.
Outdoors Downtown
Bicentennial Park hosts a recurring Friday-night series through the summer in the middle of downtown, and the New Albany Amphitheater sits on the riverfront for larger events. Note that Madison, upriver, has a Bicentennial Park of its own with its own concert series — listings sites mix them up regularly.
Bars and Taprooms
Hugh E. Bir is the old-time New Albany staple, known for live country and a resident ghost story. Dog Haus Biergarten runs live music every Friday and Saturday from April through November. Our Lady of Perpetual Hops pairs local brews with pub games, Pride Bar runs drag and free admission, and The Earl — a self-described upscale dive with a patio, open to 3 a.m. on weekends — hosts music bingo on Mondays. Parlour, Bearno’s and Fistful Craft Restaurant & Brewery fill out the rest.
Just Outside Town
Huber’s Orchard & Winery in Starlight has live music Saturdays and Sundays through the warmer months — the closest thing to a winery-with-a-stage in this corner of the state. Concerts By The Creek at Borden Community Park runs the third Saturday of the month, June through September; the last 2026 date is September 19. And Rock the Rocks, the Falls of the Ohio Foundation’s annual benefit concert, lands Saturday, September 26.

Jeffersonville is ten minutes east with free riverfront concerts and a late-night bar district. Upriver, Madison is about an hour and a quarter.
